About us
Hofmann Chemie GmbH was founded in Hamburg in 1982 and has since operated as an independent raw material trader for the pharmaceutical, veterinary, food, and feed industries. As an owner-managed company, we work with short decision-making processes and a personal approach – both for our customers and our suppliers.
Our core business is the procurement and distribution of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, and other raw materials from international sourcing markets, including Europe, China, and India. For new sources, we review the available documents, references, and product-related information.
Depending on the product, manufacturer, and destination country, we coordinate the available documents – such as certificates of analysis (COA), safety data sheets (SDS), specifications, and further evidence – for import, customs, and market requirements.

History
Hofmann Chemie was founded in Hamburg in 1982 as a specialised trading house for pharmaceutical and chemical raw materials. At a time when global supply chains were still in their infancy, the company recognized early the potential of international sourcing – particularly from Asian markets.
Over the following decades, direct, long-standing supplier relationships were established in Europe, China, and India. In parallel, a growing business with customers in Latin America developed, which became one of the company's most important areas of focus.
Today, Hofmann Chemie is an international raw material trader with over 40 years of experience in sourcing, document coordination, and export handling for pharma, veterinary, food, and feed – with a stable supplier network and a focus on Latin America.

International Focus
A focus of our activities lies in Mexico and other Latin American markets. Through our long-standing partner Alfil Pharmaceuticals SA de CV in Mexico, we have market knowledge and a local network in the region.
We coordinate international sourcing, documentation, and export processes in line with the requirements of each shipment. Which documents and transport processes are required depends on the product, manufacturer, destination country, and delivery terms.
We also supply customers across Europe and other international markets. Deliveries are made as required by sea freight, air freight, or under agreed FOB terms.
